AKYNZEO injection has not been studied for the prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with AC chemotherapy.

IV dexamethasone can be run simultaneously*

  • Avoid use in patients with severe hepatic impairment, as well as severe renal impairment or end-stage renal disease
  • Advise women of potential risk to fetus; limited data are available; may cause fetal harm

*Do not add dexamethasone to the AKYNZEO injection (ready-to-use) vial.

Incompatibility of AKYNZEO injection
AKYNZEO IV is incompatible with solutions containing divalent cations. With the exception of IV dexamethasone, limited data are available on compatibility with other IV substances, additives, or medications.

Preparation and administration1

Follow your institution's protocol for small-volume vial infusion using a vented intravenous set and infusion pump to administer over 30 minutes.

  1. INSPECT the solution for particulate matter and discoloration. Discard the vial if particulates and/or discoloration are observed.
  2. INSERT a vented intravenous set through the septum of the vial using an aseptic technique. Once the stopper is punctured, use immediately.
  3. HANG the vial in an inverted position using the affixed strap.
  4. INFUSE over 30 minutes. After, flush the line with 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection, USP or 5% Dextrose Injection, USP to ensure complete administration.
